Single mum's devastating story: 'I ended up paralysed by a makeup brush'

Jo has an incredible pledge to make on Monday's episode of This Time Next Year.

The single mum from Queensland wants to be able to run around and play with her young son again after being paralysed.

"I borrowed a makeup brush from my best friend, at the time she had a staph boil," she tells host Karl Stefanovic.

"I ended up being paralysed," she continues.

The story floors Karl, who questions, "From a makeup brush?"

Her young son is in the audience watching her retell the story and it's clear that it has taken a huge toll on both of them emotionally.

"They didn't think I'd ever walk again," she says through tears, "I just said this isn't how my story ends."

Jo is just one of the inspirational and brave Aussies taking on huge pledges to change their lives, and in episode one audiences saw the impact it can have.

Eden, 16, came on the show to overcome her Tourette's so she could go back to school, and 12 months later she came back to proudly say she had accomplished that.

Krissy and Clayton wanted a second chance to be parents after years of struggling through IVF and heartbreak.

They walked back on stage 12 months later, holding their baby girl, Hope, proving they too got their dream of starting a family.
