Thai woman texts while riding motorbike with child in front

Well this is pretty risky.

A woman has been filmed riding on a motorbike along a busy road in Phuket, Thailand, apparently texting while she travelled on a highway.

The woman can be seen taking both hands off the handlebars at one point, managing to maintain her balance as she types on her phone.

Sitting on her lap is a small child.

Neither of them are wearing helmets or protective clothing, which makes this very hard to watch.

There’s also a large bag wedged between the rider’s knees, just in case this situation wasn’t already dangerous enough.

Obviously, taking your hands off the bars of a motorbike is pretty darn silly – no matter how good your balance is, hitting a rogue pothole or bump could have catastrophic results.

And look, we don’t mean to get all nagging mum here, but we don’t care how dramatic the group chat is, don’t bloody text and drive/ride/cycle on a penny farthing bike.

We know it’s tempting, but it’s really bloody dumb.

Now we’ll point, once again, to one of our favourite public safety lines of all time, which was part of a NSW government campaign to stop drivers from using their phones behind the wheel.

It’s also a quote from The Castle, funnily enough.

And that extremely appropriate public safety message is this: “Get you hand off it”.
