Mobile phone charger catches fire on Ryanair flight
Passengers rushed off a plane after a portable mobile phone charger burst into flames just before takeoff.
Anthony Carrio filmed as the charger turned into a ball of fire as people boarded the Ryanair flight from Barcelona to Ibiza yesterday.
"Everyone tries to run and all I do was put it out with water," he wrote as he posted the video to Instagram.
"Luckily it was just before taking off."
The plane's emergency slide was activated so the passengers finally got to experience the fun which everybody fantasises about during the pre-flight safety demonstration.
But as another passenger showed, nobody knows how to do it.
So eager to exit the plane that everybody jumped on before others were able to get off.
At one point there were eight people on the slide, creating a pileup that took up more than half the slide.
All this to avoid a little bit of fire.
Nobody was hurt in the fire or the rush to evacuate.
Passengers were transferred to another plane.
