This mind-bending 'experiential playground' is coming to Sydney and it's not your average art gallery

If you've been looking for a reason to get out of the house and give your brain a serious workout, Sydney's latest arrival is about to flip your world upside down, quite literally.

Mind Games: Art Alive, a massive new immersive art space, has opened its doors in Chippendale , promising an experience that blends high-tech illusions with "urban edgy vibes."

Forget "do not touch" signs; this woman-led, independent project is designed to be touched, heard, and even tasted.

What to expect inside

Located across two levels on Broadway, the space features over 60 bespoke installations created by a mix of 15 local and international legends.

Whether you're a film buff or a science geek, there is plenty to gawk at, including

  • The Holographic Moon Room: A 3D projection space that transports you to a surreal lunar surface.

  • Levitation Station: A gravity-defying, upside-down train illusion that will have you questioning which way is up.

  • The Movie Magic Room: A behind-the-scenes look at how cinematic sound and visual tricks are made.

For founder Baeu Medina, the project is a passion piece rooted in her own childhood.

"I grew up in the local area, visiting places like the Powerhouse Museum," Medina said. "After working in production and travelling, I realised there was a gap for these types of immersive, tactile experiences locally. Opening this space in the area I grew up in feels like coming full circle."

The goal? To spark "joy, curiosity, and wonder" in everyone from four-year-olds to art aficionados.

"Our goal is to provide a high-value cultural experience where families, students, and art lovers can step out of the everyday and into something extraordinary," Medina says.
