Simpson, 28, stars in his first Australian scripted series He Had It Coming, premiering November 20, only on Stan.
While his career move came as a surprise to fans, one thing surprised Liu Bordizzo (Ahsoka: Star Wars) and Hewson (Yellowjackets) most about Simpson.
And it happened on his first day of set.

Simpson joins the Aussie pair, along with lead Lydia West (Big Mood, It's a Sin) in the feisty new feminist drama that sees his character Scott, the university's star rugby player, embroiled in a must-see murder mystery.

"He was so ready to learn and come at it as someone who's never done a scripted series before and he had a lot of questions," revealed Liu Bordizzo, who's starred alongside Hollywood's biggest names including Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka), Jamie Foxx (Day Shift) and Daniel Radcliff (Guns Akimbo).
"I mean, he's done so much stuff on screen, but specifically this mode of working... I was like, wow, I love that mindset of just wanting to learn, even though you're someone that obviously has done a lot of creative work in your life and treating it as a new avenue, it was great."
