Insurance company proposes 'women-only' lanes to beat congested traffic

A misguided UK insurance company has pitched the idea of female-only 'pink lanes' for Britain's roads, in order to "create a safer environment" for lady motorists.
The idea — complete with mocked-up images of pink lanes lined with potted colour — comes from Sheila's Wheels, a provider of women-only home, travel and car insurance.
The idea is that women would use the exclusive lanes and overpasses to beat congested traffic, in the same vein as a T2 lane, without interruption from pesky male motorists. How it would reduce congestion without increasing the number of lanes or reducing the number of cars is a mystery at this point.

The company claims the concept would make travel safer for women, and boasted that its idea is "futuristic". Which would be true, if you’re from the 1950s.
A spokesperson for the company told the Metro they are "serious about creating a safer road network for female drivers and we believe a discussion about how best to achieve this is long overdue."
And the insurers even costed the proposal, coming up with the basement bargain figure of $1.5 billion. Get in, loser. We're going shopping.
