Exclusive: Ally Langdon 'overwhelmed' by first Gold Logie nomination as she sends special message to the Aussie public

EXCLUSIVE: Whether she's leading A Current Affair, hosting Parental Guidance, covering the election or the Olympics, Ally Langdon works to represent "real people".

The journalist is being recognised for her extraordinary work with her first ever Gold Logie nomination for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television.

She's been nominated alongside Hamish Blake, Julia Morris, Poh Ling Yeow, Lisa Millar, Lynne McGranger and Sonia Kruger.

On top of the Gold, Ally was up for a brand new Logie, the Ray Martin Award for Most Popular News or Public Affairs Reporter.

Ally sent Aussie audiences a special message in the lead up to the awards: "Hi guys, it is Ally from A Current Affair. ACA has been nominated for a Gold Logie.

"We are a show that represents everyone, we care about everybody.

"So I guess we're leaning in and asking you to vote for us, for me, for the Gold Logie."

Speaking to 9Entertainment, Ally said the nomination feels "really, really special."

"I feel like the word that keeps coming up is 'overwhelming' and it has been but it's also been really nice.

"I'm just kind of leaning into this process which is all very new."

Ally nodded to fellow Nine nominee Hamish Blake who she called an "old hand" in the category considering he's won twice before.

She joked that she's been sticking with the other Gold Logie newbies including ABC journalist Lisa Millar.

"Us two journos have been holding hands," she laughed.

Ally was humble in her nomination and credited her whole A Current Affair team for the achievement.

"It's what the whole show does, it's who it represents. We represent real people. We get fabulous results for real people.

"My name is attached to the Gold Logie, but I'm the face of ACA so I feel like it's us and our team who've actually been nominated for this.

"So I'm standing here doing this on behalf of the whole team."

Ally joked that her "biggest drama" before the Logies each years is finding a comfortable pair of shoes.

"When you get around in sneakers your whole life and then one night you've got to wear heels, it's a really long night."

In total, 9Network and Stan celebrate an incredible 32 nominations for the 65th Logie Awards.

This year, Sydney will host the Logies on Sunday August 3 at The Star.

It will be broadcast by Channel 7.
