Yungblud breaks down on stage in front of thousands: ‘Can’t be professional. Can’t hide.’

English rocker Yungblud has opened up about his tearful breakdown on stage at his own music festival BludFest in Czechia.

The 28-year-old, whose real name is Dominic Harrison, became visibly overwhelmed during his performance, wiping tears away and at one point shaking while telling fans how much they meant to him.

The musician shared the emotional performance to his social media, and in the video Yungblud admitted to feeling “disconnected from everything”.

“I have been trying my best to wake up every day. I have felt in pain a lot and I don’t know why for a long time. But every time I find your faces, every time I find your eyes, every time I look at you, I know that I belong somewhere,” he told the crowd of thousands.

“To feel safe from the outside world is something that I can never thank you enough for. And all I want to say is that this is your family.”

The post was accompanied by a lengthy captioned with started with “Warning. Truth Incoming.”

Yungblud said he debated whether he should’ve shared the post at all over fears it would come across “disingenuous” but decided to anyway.

“Recently, I’ve been really struggling and this moment is a byproduct of my body releasing the wave of emotion that has hit me in the past year that I have been unable to process,” the singer explained.

He added that even though he was elated in the moment on stage, 20 minutes later when he was alone in the shower he had a “breakdown”.

Yungblud described the strangeness of his experience as an artist and said he was struggling to process the good or the bad in his life as they unravelled so quickly.

“The amount of hate and disbelief around me from strangers on the internet or bitter musicians really weighs on my heart, as all I’ve been trying to do for the past 10 years is spread love, building something I believe in and unify people in a safe space,” he explained.

He continued by saying perhaps he should stay silent to appear “cooler” but admitted that wouldn’t be true to who he is.

He reflected on starting his music journey 10 years ago in a 100 seater venue in Amsterdam only to feel incredibly emotional as he stood in front of a crowd of 20,000 in Czechia on Sunday.

Yungblud was overcome with gratitude for his fans and said he was simply unable to contain his feelings.

“I can’t hold it in. I can’t hold anything back. I can’t be ‘professional’. I can’t hide.”

He said he was ready to do the work on himself to process his emotions and “attain the strength” needed to maintain the pace of his career.

Yungblud concluded with deep and heartfelt thanks for his community: “What an honour it is to spend this life with you.”

The last year has seen major success in Yungblud’s career with him snagging consecutive chart-topping albums, his first Grammy win and packed arenas from London to Australia.
