Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith open up about when they 'broke up' during their marriage

Will Smith and Will Smith are continuing to open up about their marriage difficulties.

During the most recent episode of the web series Red Table Talk, Will, 50, and Jada, 47, spoke about divorce -- revealing they'd never considered ending their marriage, even though they did break up at one point.

"I was reading in the tabloids that we were getting divorced and all of that stuff," Will said while talking with Jada, their 17-year-old daughter Willow, and his mother-in-law, Adrienne Banfield-Jones.

Jada said they had never thought about divorce.

"I had never even seen a divorce lawyer," she responded. "It never even crossed my mind."

"Because I had been divorced before, I wasn't getting divorced again," continued Will. "Divorce wasn't an option."

He was previously married to Sheree Zampino before they divorced in 1995. The exes share one son, Trey Smith, 25.

But Will said he was devastated when he and Jada temporarily split up.

"I was devastated even worse than a divorce," he recalled. "We broke up within our marriage and got back together again. "We had to rebuild with new rules and something way, completely different."

Later in the episode, Will spoke from the heart and assured a teary Jada that his love for her was endless.

"You know why I never got divorced?" he asked Jada, who quipped, "It's cheaper to keep me."

"Because I never met anyone like you, and I knew if I wasn't with you I'd be searching in vain for the rest of my life," he continued.

"I love you to death," Jada told Will.

"When I see you on this [show], it is the joy that I have always hoped you would have… I love you baby."

Adrienne, Jada's 64-year-old mother, was so moved by his words that she said, "I always knew he was the best thing that ever happened to you."
