Travis Kelce fell victim to $49 million Ponzi scheme: report

Travis Kelce has been named as a victim in a $49 million Ponzi scheme, though the exact amount Taylor Swift’s husband lost to the scam is unclear.
Kelce, 36, was targeted by Siddharth Jawahar, who pleaded guilty to three counts of wire fraud in US district court in January and has now been sentenced to 11 years in prison.

He was also ordered to pay $US31.35 million ($44 million) in restitution.
Jawahar ran a US investment company that took $US35 million ($49 million) from investors starting in 2015.
About $US10 million ($14 million) of it was funnelled into a single investment which then plummeted in value, but Jawahar didn’t notify investors of the loss.
Instead, he said their investments were growing while taking cash from new investors to repay the old ones.
Prosecutors in a Missouri court said Jawahar also used investment money to fund his own “extravagant lifestyle” for years before the scheme fell apart.
A prosecutor mentioned Kelce in court but did not reveal any details about how much money he had invested.
The Guardian reported other athletes in the US were likely also targeted by the scheme, including NBA players Gary Harris and Tim Hardaway Jr.
Kelce has made $159 million in career earnings with the Kansas City Chiefs and was believed to be worth $100 million to $115 million in 2025.
His pop superstar wife is worth significantly more; in June, Forbes estimated Swift’s net worth to be $2.8 billion.

Though falling victim to a Ponzi scheme certainly wouldn’t have felt good for Kelce, he and Swift seem to be doing fine financially.
The couple tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York on July 3, which was attended by hundreds of A-list guests.
Despite the fanfare around their nuptials, no wedding photos have been released to the public nearly three months later.
Fans haven’t even had a peek at Swift’s wedding dress, which surely cost a small fortune on its own.
