Legendary singer and poet Patti Smith reacts to being name-dropped in Taylor Swift song
Legendary singer-songwriter and poet Patti Smith has acknowledged her surprise name-drop in Taylor Swift's new album.
The Gloria singer's name was mentioned several times in the title track of Swift's latest record, The Tortured Poets Department.
Smith, 77, took to Instagram to thank the pop star for the reference, in which she was named alongside Welsh poet Dylan Thomas.

"This is saying I was moved to be mentioned in the company of the great Welsh poet Dylan Thomas. Thank you Taylor. @taylorswift," Smith captioned a black-and-white photo of herself reading a Thomas anthology of poems, Portrait of the artist as a young dog.
Smith shared the post to her 1.2 million Instagram followers the day after Swift released her 11th studio album.

In the song The Tortured Poets Department, Swift sings in the chorus: You're not Dylan Thomas, I'm not Patti Smith / This ain't the Chelsea Hotel, we'rе modern idiots.

Thomas, a renowned poet known for works including Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night, died in 1953 at age 39.
Smith, meanwhile, earned fame in the 1970s as both a poet and singer, releasing her debut album Horses in 1975.
As well as being a singer-songwriter, Smith is also a poet, painter and author, and won the National Book Award for her memoir Just Kids in 2010.
She's also been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and was awarded the Polar Music Prize in 2011.

The poets are two of many famous people Swift name-dropped in her highly-anticipated album, which has 31 songs.
She also mentions 1920s 'It girl' Clara Bow, singer Charlie uth, Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks and her producer/collaborator Jack Antonoff.
The Tortured Poets Department broke a Spotify record well before fans heard it for the first time, becoming the number one most pre-saved album in the streaming platform's history.
And two hours after releasing The Tortured Poets Department, Swift returned to social media with an announcement: it's a double album.
