Selfridge, 32, confirmed she initiated the break-up in a post to her Instagram story, blaming Wharton’s apparent lack of respect for her decision.
“Yes, I left,” the reality star started her blunt statement.
“I was sick of not getting basic respect from the person I was with for nine years and the father of my two children. I’m sure everyone could tell the last few years.
“I deserve more than that, and I’ll get it. End of story.”
Wharton also shared a statement regarding the split alongside a photo of himself with his daughters Mila, 6 and Maya 4, who he shares with Selfridge. Also in the photo was Ryder, 9, who he shares with ex Cheyenne Floyd.
“A new chapter. Just me and my girls,” Wharton, 35, began.
“Taylor and I have decided to go our separate ways,” he started the post.
“As hard as that is to say publicly, I think it’s important to be honest about where my life is at this moment. We shared a lot of years, memories, love and most importantly, we have two beautiful daughters.”
He went on to address Selfridge directly in the post, writing: “I’m sorry, Taylor, that things didn’t work out the way we both hoped they would.

“I know there were times I could’ve been better, and I’m sorry for the ways I let you down.”
He continued, writing his daughters are his “entire world,” before adding his new chapter would be about “doing the work” on himself, “learning from [his] mistakes, growing, healing, and becoming the best version of [himself he] can be.”
Wharton’s post comes just one month after his flirtatious relationship with Fairthorne was publicly aired during Season 42 of The Challenge.
The show brings together former reality tv stars, forcing them to live together and compete in challengers side by side.
Fairthorne previously told Page Six that fellow competitor Nelson Thomas warned her about Wharton and Selfridge’s complicated relationship during filming.

“At the time, I was told what his situation was at home, and maybe it wasn’t the full truth. I don’t think it was,” Fairthorne told the outlet.
“And that’s why when Nelson came to me, I was obviously very shocked and taken aback [by] how rude he was.
“But then ultimately, that also made me realise there’s something else going on here and there’s a reason he’s doing it.”
Following the show, Wharton took to X to apologise for his behaviour.
“So I just want to say this quick, I’ve apologised to the person who needed to hear it the most,” he wrote.

“I’m going to continue to handle things behind closed doors. It’s been a very long time since I haven’t been proud of who I see on camera and this is one of those times.”
Wharton and Selfridge have been on-again-off-again since 2019 after the pair first met on reality show, Ex on the Beach.
Wharton was first on Teen Mom in 2018 with his ex-girlfriend Cheyenne Floyd, who he shares his first daughter with.
Selfridge ended up on the show alongside Wharton as the pair began dating, and documented their co-parenting dynamic.
