Real Housewives star Teddi Mellencamp fights back tears as she has staples removed following brain surgery

Real Housewives star Teddi Mellencamp revealed this week she had a total of four tumours removed during brain surgery, vowing to fight for her health in a statement.

And now the reality star, 43, who has also shared her skin cancer battle in the past, has made the next step in her recovery and had the staples in her head removed following the operation.

Mellencamp shared an emotional black and white video of herself fighting back tears and appearing to hold a medical bag to her mouth as staff removed the staples.

"Got my staples out today," Mellencamp captioned the candid video.

In the video, she receives encouragement at the milestone from staffers and the person filming.

Earlier this week, she revealed she had four tumours removed during her brain surgery, writing "more tumours were removed than expected".

She thanked the doctors and medical staffers who looked after her during her surgery, as well as family, friends and fans for their support and added: "This fight is not over, but that round has been won."

Sharing a statement to her 1.1 million followers on Instagram, Mellencamp wrote: "I am so grateful for the incredible surgeons, doctor, and nurses who made my surgery a success and my recovery process comfortable.

"In full transparency, more tumours were removed than expected: four in total. This fight is not over, but that round has been won."

"The laughter, support, and patience of my kids, my family, and my closest friends is one gift with which words cannot properly express my gratitude," she continued.

She added that she wanted to thank fans and supporters for their "love and prayers" during her health battle.

"I see them, and they're definitely helping me stay strong," she added.

Mellencamp, who is the daughter of American singer John Mellencamp, revealed just two weeks ago that she was undergoing emergency surgery for brain tumours after suffering from "severe and debilitating headaches".

At the time, she said doctors believe the tumours had "been growing for at least six months".
