Ted Lasso may be one of the most beloved shows on TV, but there’s a bit of a “love-hate relationship” between Hannah Waddingham and Jason Sudeikis.
The actress, 51, opened up about “the nature of how Sudeikis works” during an interview with Variety and hinted that there’s been a bit of tensions on set between them.

“There’s always going to be a bit of give-and-take within a scene,” she explained of the Emmy winner’s on-the-fly script rewrites.
“He hears it in the room, and then we tweak,” she noted.
“With that boy, you’ve got to roll with the punches. He and I have an ongoing love-hate relationship that he changes it last minute.”
But despite hinting that it’s not always rosy on set, she insisted the cast members are all very close and admitted it’s “odd” if they don’t chat weekly.

Waddingham, who plays Rebecca Welton, also opened up about the complicated bond she has with Sudeikis’ character, Ted Lasso, and how it “bucks against the norm.”
“They are undoubtedly soulmates, but that can mean a myriad of things,” the singer told the outlet, adding that she “love[s] all the relationships in” the project.
The pair have been nothing but platonic in the series, although fans have been hoping for more to happen between them.

Sudeiksis has become known for his Ted Lasso rewrites, which had a huge impact on the hit show’s third season, which was delayed for months.
Fans are in luck though, with Season 4 set to premiere in August.
The new season is going to be a different one, with Waddingham teasing in February that it’s going to be a whole new deal with Lasso coaching a women’s team for AFC Richmond.
“I can’t wait for everyone to see what they’ve come up with,” she told Deadline earlier this year.
And as for coming back to her role, she’s willing to do it until she’s 80.
“I love Rebecca Welton, my character, and the writing is so magnificent. Jason Sudeikis and the writers’ room, it’s like a finely tuned machine. And the life lessons that you realize that they’re just tipping in here and there, it’s brilliant,” she added.
