Taylor Swift announces brand new album The Life of a Showgirl

Taylor Swift is dropping a new album!

After months and months of false alarms, we're actually serious this time.

The Lover singer has announced her upcoming 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl, just over a year after the release of her last album The Tortured Poets Department.

Swift's website transformed into a sparkly orange countdown earlier in the day leading to 2:12pm AEST.

But, as the clock ticked over the website crashed and fans were left wondering what the singer could possibly have in store.

Thankfully, Swift's partner, Travis Kelce, had posted a clip from an upcoming episode of his podcast New Heights featuring Swift at the same time, and in that clip the singer announced her 12th studio album (TS12).

"I want to show you something," Swift told Travis' brother and co-host Jason Kelce.

"This is my brand new album The Life of a Showgirl."

Swift pulled out a vinyl, however the cover of the album is blurred.

After taking a minute to recover after the sheer amount of Swifties trying to refresh took the whole site down, the singer's website now has the option to preorder the album.

While we don't know the exact release date, the site does say that pre-orders will ship "before 10/13/2025" (October 13).

The announcement comes after a day of sheer chaos for Swifties.

This morning Aussie fans woke up to a photo shared by the New Heights podcast's social media, teasing Swift would be the guest on an upcoming episode set for release on August 13 (August 14 in Australia).

It was later confirmed that Swift would appear on the episode when a clip was posted to the same account of Swift sitting next to Travis as they record the podcast along with the caption, "Taylor's about to do a f*cking podcast!"

The original post was shared at 9:12AM on August 12, not only teasing TS12 but also a potential release date on 9/12 being September 12.

Following the initial post shared by New Heights, Taylor Nation, Swift's official fan account, shared a carousel of 12 images of Swift wearing orange along with the caption, "Thinking about when she said 'See you next era…' ❤️‍🔥".

The post was made exactly 12 minutes after the post shared by New Heights.

The morning has been filled with Easter eggs left behind by the singer, and fans had pretty much figured a new orange-themed album was set to be announced before the timer ran out.

In terms of what we can expect from The Life of a Showgirl, we're not yet entirely sure, but we're hoping for something along the lines of Lover 2.0 – but make it sexier.
