Taylor Swift laughs hysterically during Kanye West 'forgiveness' track: 'I can't even say it with a straight face'

Taylor Swift couldn't help but cackle while performing a Kanye West diss track over the weekend.

During a performance in Seattle overnight, Swift busted out her hit This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things for her surprise song segment.

The song is from Swift's landmark album, Reputation, which was released following her re-emergence after being publicly humiliated by Kanye West and Kim Kardashian.

The song, thought to be one of the more pointed West diss tracks in her discography, features a line in the bridge in which Swift sings, "And here's to you, 'cause forgiveness is a nice thing to do."

Swift sang the line on stage before bursting into a maniacal fit of laughter – something she has always done while performing the song.

The singer then adds, "I can't even say it with a straight face," which also appears on the song's recording before launching back into the catchy chorus.

Swift's decision to dust off this deep-cut comes just a week after the seven year anniversary of West and Kardashian's attempt to sour Swift's name using an edited clip of a phone call.

The clip was released to publicly counter Swift's claims she was not comfortable with, nor informed about, West's lyric from a song at the time, "I made that bitch famous".

The lyric referred to the infamous Video Music Awards incident in which West brashly interrupted a 19-year-old Swift as she accepted an award for Best Female Music Video of the Year.

Fans of West and Kardashian subsequently went after the singer, her family and her fans, branding any digital trace of Swift with a snake emoji, which then became a central motif to her artistic response – the Reputation album.

This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things is one of four songs on the record that make reference to West.

The others are I Did Something Bad, Look What You Made Me Do and Call It What You Want.

It would not be until March 2020 that the full unedited phone call was released by an anonymous source, which proved Swift was never consulted about being called 'bitch'.

Instead, West asked her "What if I said I made you famous?" he said in the audio with no mention of the expletive. Swift lamented over this assertion, "Did you say that? Oh God, well, what am I going to do about it at this point?" she said.

Despite this, Swift has left this drama in the past and is focusing on her record-breaking career, which has recently come to include beating Barbara Streisand's record for most No. 1 albums by a female artist.

Similarly, the singer has been staying unbothered by focusing on her sold-out world tour, The Eras Tour, which is set to land in Australia in February 2024.
