Selena Gomez shares sweet message to 'bestie' Taylor Swift after engagement to Travis Kelce

Selena Gomez has publicly congratulated her best friend Taylor Swift on her engagement.

The Love You Like a Love Song hitmaker, 33, shared an Instagram story with her millions of followers which contained images of NFL star Travis Kelce's lavish proposal to the singer.

In her message, she referred to Love Story singer Swift as her "bestie".

"When bestie gets engaged [smiley love heart emoji]."

Gomez, who is engaged herself to musician Benny Blanco, added Queen's iconic hit song, You're My Best Friend, to the post.

She also reposted a viral photo of her and Swift with their respective fiancés that featured an old tweet or X comment from Swift about love.

"@selenagomez Real love still happens sometimes. It's not just something we make up when we're nine. I have to believe that. You do too," Swift wrote in 2009.

"16 years later," the image read, delighting millions of fans who have followed their journey.

Swift, 35, announced the engagement news on Instagram, sharing pictures from the couple's stunning garden engagement and writing: "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨."

Following the news, which made international headlines, the likes of Alyson Hannigan, Addison Rae, Ricki Lake, Wynonna Judd and Jennifer Love Hewitt also publicly shared their support for Swift by liking the post.

Sabrina Carpenter, the singer who supported Swift on her recent Eras Tour, reacted to the news, re-sharing the engagement pictures on her Instagram stories.

She added a series of white love hearts to the post, and used the same Swift song Taylor added to her original post, So High School.

Gomez recently revealed how she and Swift met, as she gave an insight into their rocksolid friendship.

She revealed on the Therapuss podcast that they met when they were dating the Jonas Brothers more than a decade ago.

"I dated Nick and she dated Joe. And everything was – it was cute, we were young," she said.

She added: "[Taylor] and I like to say the best thing we got out of those relationships was each other."
