Sylvia Jeffreys addresses pregnancy on 9NewsWatch bulletin: 'We can't wait to meet our baby boy'

Have a glass of red for Sylvia Jeffreys!

The Nine Network presenter, who is expecting her first child with husband Peter Stefanovic, addressed her pregnancy before closing out Tuesday's episode of 9NewsWatch on Facebook, sharing a heartfelt message of gratitude with viewers. 

Jeffreys, 33, began by reading a news bulletin about new research from the University of Alberta in Canada, which finds that a glass of red wine is equal to one hour in the gym. This is because resveratrol is a compound found in red wine, which apparently gives the same weight loss benefits as exercise.

"You'll all have to have one for me because I won't be drinking for a while with a baby on the way," she said, beaming.

"My husband Pete and I were so delighted to share the news with you last night and we want to say thank you so much for all the beautiful messages that we've received in the last 24 hours saying congratulations. We cannot wait to meet our little baby boy next year. We are definitely feeling all the love. And thank you very much for all your well wishes!"

She also took to Instagram yesterday to share the happy news by posting a photo of herself and Stefanovic, 37, smiling. The caption read, "We're having a baby boy and we're totally over the moon!!"

Stefanovic posted a similar message on his Instagram account, writing, "Soon to be a family of three and we are rapt! Good thing I'm already match fit with the whole no sleep thing 😁."

In Stefanovic's photo, he and Jeffreys are holding a card which reads "IT'S A BOY."

The happy news comes two years after Jeffreys and Stefanovic said "I do" in a stunning ceremony in the New South Wales Kangaroo Valley in April 2017. The pair exchanged vows in front of an A-list crowd at the Ooralba Estate, a charming property in the Southern Highlands region.
