'We had no idea': Hollywood 'nepo baby' lands spot in music video after omitting famous surname

Shiloh Jolie is proving she doesn't need her famous last name to get on stage.
The daughter of Angelina Jolie, 50, and Brad Pitt, 62, has surprised fans this week by appearing as a background dancer in the music video for What's a Girl to Do, the latest release from South Korean K-pop star Dayoung.
While many Hollywood 'nepo babies' rely on industry connections, Shiloh, 19, reportedly took a much humbler route.

She landed the role after attending an open casting call in the United States, performing alongside her fellow members from the elite Los Angeles dance crew, "Culture."
To ensure she was judged solely on her rhythm rather than her roots, she auditioned under the stage name "Shi."
The strategy worked perfectly.

In a statement to the South Korean outlet Maeil Business Newspaper Star Today, a representative for Starship Entertainment admitted they were completely in the dark about her lineage.
"We held an open audition in the United States to cast performers for Dayoung's music video," the spokesperson explained.
"Shiloh was selected in the final round and ended up joining Dayoung's music video."
The agency further emphasised her talent was the only factor in her hiring, saying, "Even after filming, we had no idea she was the child of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, and only found out by chance quite recently."
Fans first spotted the dancer in the music video's teaser earlier this week.
Her performance marks her first professional credit, a milestone for the teenager who has spent years training at world-renowned studios.
Upon turning 18 in May 2024, she filed formal paperwork to drop "Pitt" from her hyphenated surname, requesting to be known moving forward as 'Shi Jolie.'

The name change was made official in August 2024, nearly eight years after her parents began their highly publicised and contentious divorce.
By shedding the "Pitt" name and successfully navigating the competitive world of commercial dance, Shiloh appears to be successfully carving out a career that is entirely her own.
