Just days after making her first Met Gala appearance, singer Shakira had more good news to celebrate.

Spanish state prosecutors recommended on Wednesday that an investigating judge shelve a probe into another alleged case of tax fraud by the pop star.

The Colombian singer is under investigation for the alleged evasion of €6.7 million ($11 million) in taxes on her 2018 income via an offshore company. She has denied wrongdoing.

State prosecutors, who had initially brought the allegations forward, are now saying "there is not sufficient evidence" of a possible fiscal crime.

It will be up to the investigating judge to decide whether to continue with the probe, and possibly recommend that the case be tried, or dismissed.

In a separate case, Shakira struck a deal in November with prosecutors whereby she acknowledged she had failed to pay the Spanish government €14.5 million (about $23.7 million) in taxes between 2012 and 2014.

Shakira, 47, now lives in Miami, having left Spain after her messy breakup with her partner of 12 years, footballer Gerard Piqué.

The singer had moved there for the now-retired player's career but relocated back to the US, along with the couple's two sons - Milan, 11, and nine-year-old Sasha - following the split.

"I settled in Barcelona to give my children stability, the same that we are now looking for in another corner of the world next to family, friends and the sea," she announced in a social media post at the time.

"Today we begin a new chapter in the search for your happiness."

She added: "Thanks to everyone who encouraged me there, dried my tears, inspired me and made me grow. Thanks to my Spanish audience who have always covered me with their love and loyalty."
