Selma Blair has broken her silence weeks after she was arrested at a US airport on October 11 over an alleged violent altercation on a plane.

In a video posted to Instagram, the 54-year-old actress can be seen speaking to the camera from what appears to be her home.

“Hi, it’s me, and I know I’ve been quiet for a couple weeks since October 11th, and you deserve to hear from me directly,” she said.

“And I’m sorry that it’s taken this long. There is a legal matter going on, and my lawyers have asked me to not say anything about that day, and I’m listening to them, and I take this very seriously.”

She continued, “Not one day ever have I intended to hurt or frighten anyone a day in my life. And so, to the people that I disappointed, that I hurt, that I frightened, alarmed, I am so sorry.

“And to the people that have written, or called, or sent wishes of love or caring, it has meant everything to me and my son, who is my world.”

Blair shares son Arthur Saint Bleick, 15, with fashion designer ex Jason Bleick.

She concluded her video with a simple message, telling fans: “So right now, I’m going to be taking care of my health and my son, and thinking of you all with gratitude and love.”

Blair was arrested at New York’s John F Kennedy International Airport earlier this month after an alleged violent incident aboard a Delta Air Lines flight.

Blair appeared in court the day after her arrest, where the Legally Blonde actress pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree assault.

Her lawyer claimed she did not intend to assault the police officer and nurse.

Blair could face between two and seven years behind bars if convicted.

Blair was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS), a chronic autoimmune disease affecting the central nervous system, in 2018.

Her lawyers told the court she had missed her prescribed medication for the condition and hit her head before the alleged attacks.

“These factors coupled with the altitude, resulted in a state of severe confusion and disorientation,” her lawyer Shawn Barnes said earlier this month.

Her team also rejected claims that the actress had attempted to open the plane door mid-flight, and suggestions that the incident somehow proved she did not have MS.

“Since Sunday night, the public account of what happened to Selma aboard a flight to New York has been built almost entirely on a police statement and a decade-old headline,” Blair’s spokesperson told People after her arrest.

“Selma Blair experienced a medical emergency on the flight. There was no attempt to open the door of the aircraft. Selma did not intend to harm anyone.”
