Richard Gere recovering from pneumonia after being hospitalised on family holiday in Mexico
Richard Gere is reportedly recovering from pneumonia after he was allegedly hospitalised during a family holiday in Mexico this week.
According to TMZ, the 73-year-old Pretty Woman star was diagnosed with the lung infection after going to a hospital near his holiday home in Nuevo Vallarta.
Gere, who was on a family trip to celebrate his wife Alejandra Silva's 40th birthday, reportedly had been suffering from a cough prior to the trip, but on the holiday his health deteriorated, prompting him to seek medical attention.

Per the outlet's sources, Gere spent one night in the hospital receiving treatment for his illness.
He has since been discharged, TMZ reports, with sources claiming his health is improving.
Gere and Silva, who is a Spanish publicist and was a long-time family friend of her now-husband, married in 2018 at his ranch in upstate New York.

In the five years since they tied the knot, Gere and Silva have welcomed two children, four-year-old Alexander and a two-year-old child whose name has not been made public.
Both children were with Gere and Silva on the trip, with Silva taking to Instagram on Thursday to thank her fans for their birthday well wishes.
"Thank you all for the birthday wishes.. after almost 3 weeks of everyone being sick in our family today finally I feel much better! Thank you for all the love ❤️ I give it all back to you! 💫 #happybirthday #happy40," she wrote.

Earlier this morning, Silva shared a photo to her Instagram Story, showing the family-of-four going on a "beach day".
Gere was previously married to Cindy Crawford and Cary Lowell, the latter with whom he shares 23-year-old son Homer. Silva, meanwhile, was married to Govind Friedland from 2012 to 2015.
When Silva and Gere started dating in 2015, both were in the process of divorcing their spouses.
