Peter Andre says he was having a 'midlife crisis' in early years with wife Emily

British singer Peter Andre believes he was in the midst of a 'midlife crisis' in the early days of his relationship with wife Emily MacDonagh.

Andrew began dating MacDonagh in 2012 when he was 39 and she was a 22-year-old medical student at the University of Bristol.

In a new episode of The Sun's video docuseries Life with The Andres, the couple recall a time when Andre visited MacDonagh in Bristol early in their relationship.

"It was snowing and you drove your Lamborghini to my student flat and everyone was like, 'Who is this guy?'" the doctor and mum of two, now 31, laughs. "I remember you nearly died on the way. It was pouring with snow and you were like, 'Oh, I'm going to turn up in my Lambo!'"

"That was probably the most stupid thing I've ever done... I was dying to see you! Oh, what an idiot, what an absolute tool," Andre replies.

When MacDonagh points out he would "never" do the same thing now, the 'Mysterious Girl' singer replies, "I actually think I was going through a mid-life crisis."

MacDonagh mentions she refused to get in the car because she was pregnant, indicting the visit occurred in 2013 when she was expecting the couple's first child.

"I was literally like, 'I'm not going in this car, it's too low down, it hurts me getting in'. Do you remember? I couldn't get in and out of the car," she adds.

Andre met MacDonagh in 2010 through her father, a consultant urologist who had treated the singer for kidney stones while he was touring.

As a thank you, Andre gave Dr MacDonagh some tickets to his show, which he gave to his wife and daughter. They met the singer on the night.

At the time, Andre was only a year out of his marriage with ex-wife Katie Price, with whom he shares two children.

Andre became close friends with Dr MacDonagh, and joined him on a 2012 charitable trip to Zanzibar along with Emily, then 22.

"After that trip I had feelings for her like I couldn't believe," Andre said, according to The Sun. "The moment I thought, 'Oh my God this is The One', in my heart, was in Zanzibar in 2012."

Eventually, Andre, then 39, asked Dr MacDonagh's permission to pursue a romantic relationship with his daughter.

Their first public appearance as a couple was at the Magic Mike premiere in July 2012.

Andre and MacDonagh welcomed their first child, daughter Amelia, in January 2014 and married the following year. The couple's son Theo was born in 2016.
