Perez Hilton’s children ‘fled’ moments before ‘severe mental health crisis’

Perez Hilton’s family have shared an update on his children after the celebrity blogger was hospitalised following a disturbing livestream.
A statement shared on Hilton’s website says that Hilton’s children and niece were inside the home at the time of his “severe mental health crisis”, but “fled” with his sister when she realised exactly what going on.

The police were called to Hilton’s residence after fans became concerned about a disturbing livestream on Tuesday, August 4.
Police told NBC News that they responded to reports of someone “who was livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media.”
“Just minutes before the public livestream incident, Perez’s children, niece, and sister were inside the home. When it became clear that Perez was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself, they immediately fled to protect the children from witnessing any further trauma,” the family’s statement read.
“Our highest priority right now is helping the children begin to heal from what they experienced. An important part of that process is allowing them to safely return home and begin rebuilding a sense of security and normalcy.”
Hilton is father to three children, Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, eight, all of whom he welcomed via gestational surrogacy using an anonymous egg donor.
The family urged paparazzi and media to vacate the property and allow Hilton’s children privacy during “this unimaginably difficult time”.
Authorities were dispatched to Hilton’s home on August 4 after “multiple calls” from concerned individuals about a person “livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media,” the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
The Sheriff’s office later confirmed that Hilton had been “safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention.”
The day following the incident, Hilton’s family released their first statement on the matter, thanking Hilton’s fans for the “overwhelming outpouring of love, support and prayers”.
“We can confirm that Perez is receiving medical care, and our family’s focus right now is on his well-being,” the statement read.
