Perez Hilton’s family release statement after alarming livestream and hospitalisation

New details have been released following the hospitalisation of Perez Hilton, following his apparent self-harm in a TikTok livestream video. 

The 48-year-old, real name Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr, is currently receiving medical care after what authorities believe was a suicide attempt and his family have released a statement on his gossip website.

“Many of you have reached out with concern for Perez, and we are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers,” the statement reads.

“We can confirm that Perez is receiving medical care, and our family’s focus right now is on his well-being.

“We kindly ask that you respect Perez’s privacy, as well as the privacy of his family, during this difficult time.

“If and when we are able to share any updates, we will do so with everyone as soon as we can.

“Thank you for your compassion, understanding, and continued support. The Perez Hilton Team and Family.” 

Hilton is dad to Mario, 13, Mia, 11 and Mayte, eight, but he was alone in the house during the livestream.

Multiple US outlets have reported new details from the dispatch call to Hilton’s home after his disturbing livestream on Tuesday. August 4.

Authorities were dispatched after “multiple calls” from concerned individuals about a person “livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media,” Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

At 10:41 on Tuesday night a dispatch call came in for a “suicide attempt” at the address, which was confirmed to be Hilton’s home. 

Multiple units, including fire, responded to the active police scene and at around 11pm they were able to make entry into the home.

The Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office had previously confirmed it had received “multiple calls” following a person livestreaming acts of self-harm on Tuesday.

They had spoken to family members at the scene, saying deputies decided to “tactically disengage while continuing to monitor the situation.”

In a follow-up statement, the Sheriff’s Office said the person had been “safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention.”
