Oasis' Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs announces tonsil cancer diagnosis and imminent treatment

Oasis' Paul Arthurs, who is also known as Bonehead to fans, has announced he has tonsil cancer.

The 56-year-old musician shared the news on Twitter in the early hours of this morning, writing, "Just to let you all know I'm going to be taking a break from playing for a while. I've been diagnosed with tonsil cancer, but the good news is it's treatable and I'll be starting a course of treatment soon."

"I'll keep you posted how it's going," his message continued. "I'm gutted I'm missing the gigs with Liam [Gallagher] and the band. Have the best summer and enjoy the gigs if you're going, I'll see you soon xxx"

Liam Gallagher sent well-wishes to his bandmate, writing on Twitter minutes after Arthurs announced the news, "Sending BIG love to the 1 n only Bonehead and his family."

"Wishing you a speedy recovery we're all thinking of you rasta," the message continued. "You'll be back on stage [before] you can say r we doing Colombia LG x"

Arthurs replied with, "❤️❤️❤️"

Former Oasis member Andy Bell also sent his support to Arthurs, writing, "Get well soon Bone."

Gallagher, the frontman of Oasis and long-time friend of Arthurs, begins his 31-show tour in Manchester, United Kingdom, on June 1.

The tour will then move across Europe, with Gallagher set to perform concerts in Spain, Portugal, Denmark and Northern Ireland.

Although Oasis abruptly disbanded in 2009, Gallagher and Arthurs still perform together, and last year, Arthurs joined Gallagher's headlining shows at the Reading and Leeds festivals.

Fans rushed to give Arthurs their support at the news, with one writing, "We will always support you bonehead you're a legend. I will pray for you always."

Another wrote, "Get well soon Bonehead take care of yourself see you back on stage soon."

"Hi Paul. Am sorry to hear this news but I am sending u love and strength and best wishes.. take care of yourself and get well soon look after yourself," one said.

Another added: "We'll miss you a lot, legend. Have a great recovery"
