Nicole Kidman sends surprise video to Sydney primary school

Nicole Kidman has offered her congratulations to her old primary school for its 150th anniversary.

Kidman recorded a video for the 150th anniversary of Sydney’s Lane Cove Public School while on holiday in Santorini, Greece, congratulating them on the accomplishment.

“I’m in Greece right now, but I wish I could be with you,” she said in the video, which was posted to the school’s social pages.

“I wanted to say congratulations on the 150th anniversary of Lane Cove Public School. Amazing. What a milestone.”

“I remember running around that playground. I made friends that I’m still friends with now, so it shows you how important school is. I am so grateful that I went to such a great school.”

“Congratulations, sending all my love.”

Kidman sent the video to the school after a public plea from the students and parents’ committee to get her to return for the celebratory anniversary assembly.

The school posted a video to Facebook inviting her to attend with the caption: “Dear Nicole Kidman, a little school in Lane Cove has a very big birthday coming up.”

“Lane Cove Public School is turning 150, and the students would love nothing more than to welcome one of their most famous former students back through the gates.”

While Kidman was ultimately unable to attend, Nine News presenter Peter Overton, who is also a former student, showed up for the special event.

Principal Terry McKinnon said despite Kidman not being able to attend, he was proud of his student’s efforts.

“We’re really lucky we’ve got some creative parents as well on our P&C who helped put all of that invitation together, and I think everyone’s seen that video now,” McKinnon said.

Kidman is taking a well-deserved break after a hectic year of filming.

She has four projects coming out later this year, with two more already released.

Amazon Prime crime-thriller Series Scarpetta, which featured Kidman as forensic pathologist, Dr. Kay Scarpetta, was released in March this year.

Her Apple TV show, Margo’s Got Money Problems, was also released in April.

Later this year, she will star in Practical Magic 2 alongside Sandra Bullock.

She will also feature in horror-thriller The Young People, slated for the end of this year.

Kidman will also executive produce and act in Discretion, a drama series from Production Studio A24.

On top of all that, she will return to the Paramount+ series Lioness for its third season as a series regular.
