Tennis champion Naomi Osaka welcomes first child with boyfriend Cordae

Tennis champion Naomi Osaka is a mum!

The 25-year-old four-time Grand Slam singles winner has welcomed her first child – a baby girl – with Cordae, 25, a source confirmed to People this morning.

"They are doing well," the source told the outlet of the athlete and her newborn.

This is Osaka and her rapper boyfriend Cordae's first child together.

The couple revealed they were expecting a baby in January, with Osaka sharing a photo of a sonogram to Instagram with the caption: "Can't wait to get back on the court but here's a little life update for 2023."

She also shared a statement in English and Japanese in the slides of her Instagram post, which said: "The past few years have been interesting to say the least, but I find that it's the most challenging times in life that may be the most fun."

"These few months away from the sport have really given me a new love and appreciation for the game I've dedicated my life to," the statement continued.

"I realise that life is so short and I don't take any moments for granted, every day is a new blessing and adventure.

"I know that I have so much to look forward to in the future, one thing I'm looking forward to is for my kid to watch one of my matches and tell someone, 'That's my mum,' haha."

Osaka's announcement came days after reports tennis officials were struggling to track down the superstar to confirm her attendance at the Australian Open – and in her statement she vowed to return to the sport in 2024.

She concluded: "2023 will be a year that'll be full of lessons for me and I hope I'll see you guys in the start of the next one cause I'll be at Aus 2024. Love you all infinitely."

In June, Osaka revealed the sex of her child, sharing photos to Instagram of her princess-themed baby shower.

"☺️🤍💜," she captioned the post, with snaps taken in front of a sign that said: "A little princess is on the way".

Osaka and Cordae – who have been romantically linked since the beginning of 2019 – have yet to personally announce the news or reveal their newborn daughter's name.
