Naomi Osaka posts first photo of newborn daughter after name revealed

Naomi Osaka has shared the first photo of her newborn daughter Shai, days after rapper boyfriend Cordae revealed her name during a performance.

The tennis star posted a carousel of images on Instagram, reflecting on the "intermission" of her pregnancy.

"Well that was a cool little intermission, now back to your regularly scheduled program," Osaka wrote in her caption.

The photo that most excited her fans featured a tiny figure wearing a pink and white onesie, marking the first photo of the newborn to be made public.

Despite baby Shai's face remaining hidden, her onesie decorated with tennis ball and racquet designs delighted Osaka's followers.

Days prior to her Instagram post, Osaka's boyfriend Cordae announced their baby's name during a performance at Canada's Calgary Stampede on July 8.

The three-time Grammy nominee announced Shai's name mid-show, a fan capturing the moment and posting it to Twitter.

"My daughter Shai was just born a couple days ago, so I dedicate this performance to my baby girl Shai," the 25-year-old told the audience.

"Love you, I'm going back home."

Baby Shai's birth was announced on July 11, with PEOPLE first reporting the news.

However, in light of Cordae's announcement, it's believed the official date of Shai's birth, once confirmed, will be dated earlier in July.

This is the first baby for the couple, who previously revealed they were expecting in January via Instagram.

Osaka and Cordae have been dating since 2019.
