Why Taylor Swift wasn't at the MTV VMA Awards
Taylor Swift did not grace us with her presence at the MTV VMAs this year.
The megapop star did not show up for the awards show in New York, despite being nominated for Artist of the Year and only recently announcing her newest album.
People Magazine confirmed yesterday that she would not be attending; however, there has not been any confirmation as to why Swift skipped the show.

The singer won a whopping seven trophies last year, including Artist of the Year, Best Pop Artist, Video of the Year, Song of the Summer, Best Collaboration, Best Editing and Best Direction.
Her massive number of wins tied her with Beyoncé for the most overall VMA awards and propelled her to the most awarded solo artist in VMA's history.
This year, she was nominated for just the one award, Artist of the Year, which was given to Lady Gaga.

So where is Swift if she's not at the VMAs?
Well, we don't actually know.
There was speculation that she would make an appearance at her fiance Travis Kelce's first NFL game of the 2025-26 season against the Los Angeles Chargers on September 5 in Brazil, but she wasn't at the game.
Kelce touched down in South America on September 3 without Swift.

This is not the first time the pop princess has skipped the awards.
She did not attend the show for three years between 2016 and 2018. She then reappeared at the show in 2019 and 2020.
She skipped the show again in 2021.
Swifties can only hope she'll make a red carpet debut with her new fiance at the next awards show.
