'We're meant to be in this universe together': Liam Neeson's youngest son engaged to long-term girlfriend

Liam Neeson's son Daniel Neeson is engaged.

The youngest of Neeson and the late Natasha Richardson's two sons dropped down on one knee to ask his long-term girlfriend Natalie Ackerman to marry him.

"Yesterday I got to ask my best friend to join me on this journey called life," the 29-year-old said of the engagement in a statement to People.

The proposal took place in New York City on Saturday during a romantic sailboat cruise.

"I could write novels on why I love Natalie, but there's something deeper, something so cosmic about our relationship that I know we're meant to be in this universe together," he continued in the statement.

"I see my mother in Nat, I see life in Nat and reality just got a whole lot sweeter with a ring on it," he added

"Love wins!"

Daniel, Natalie and the publication shared photos from the proposal in a joint post on Instagram.

In one photo, Daniel slid a gorgeous ring on Natalie's finger as they sat on the sailboat.

In another, Natalie appeared emotional as she took in the proposal with the New York City skyline behind her.

Daniel later shared photos of the proposal to his Instagram stories.

"Life is beautiful," he wrote across one of them.

Natalie did the same.

"Screaming, crying," she wrote across a photo of the couple kissing in the middle of the city – her ring in full display.

Later that evening, Daniel and Natalie were joined by loved ones for a New York City engagement party.

They were captured sharing a kiss as their guests cheered before cutting a celebration cake together.

The couple first began dating in 2017 after meeting at university in New Orleans.

They graduated in 2019.

Daniel currently works for De Nada Tequila, a brand that he co-founded, while Natalie works as a brand communications manager.

Daniel is the youngest son of Neeson and Richardson, who is known for her role in The Parent Trap.

The Taken star and the late actress welcomed Daniel in 1996 and their eldest son Micheál Neeson in 1995.

Richardson died in 2009 at age 45 due to complications from a skiing accident.
