Martha Stewart reveals she once went on a date with late broadcaster Larry King

Martha Stewart has reflected on her friendship with late broadcaster Larry King and revealed they once went on a date.

The 79-year-old shared throwback footage from her former lifestyle program, The Martha Stewart Show, in which King had been a guest on two occasions.

"Larry King and I were friends and I was interviewed by him many times," she explained in the caption. "It was fun to turn the tables once or twice and I interviewed him a couple of times on my show!"

It was in the footage that Stweart dropped her "secret" that she and King once went on a date, and their friendship almost turned romantic.

"I have a secret to reveal: We actually went out on a dinner date," she told the audience in the clip. "I thought it was a business date, but turned out it was sort of a dinner date."

It remains unclear when the friends dated but Stewart was married to lawyer Andrew Stewart from 1961 to 1990. Meanwhile, King was married eight times, to seven different women.

Just days ago, Stewart also paid tribute to King on her Instagram. After news broke of his death, the lifestyle guru praised his life and career.

"Dear @LarryKing. Rest In Peace. You were the iconic "people person", a very excellent interviewer and a hell of a guy!!!!" she wrote.

King died on January 23 weeks after being hospitalised in ICU with COVID-19. It's not known if the virus contributed to his death. The media personality's production company, Ora Media, confirmed the passing in a statement posted to King's Twitter account.

"With profound sadness, Ora Media announces the death of our co-founder, host and friend Larry King, who passed away this morning aged 87 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles," the statement read.
