Madonna denies report that she's applying to adopt two more Malawi children

"I am in Malawi to check on the children’s hospital in Blantyre and my other work with Raising Malawi and then heading home," the pop icon told PEOPLE in a statement. "The rumours of an adoption process are untrue." 

Speculation surfaced after Malawi government spokesman Mlenga Mvula told the Associated Press Madonna appeared before a High Court judge Wednesday and was allegedly waiting to hear the court's decision on an application to adopt two more children from the southeastern African nation.   The 58-year-old is already mum to four kiddos: Lourdes Leon, 20, Rocco Ritchie, 16, David Banda, 11, and Mercy James, 11. She adopted both David and Mercy James from their native Malawi in 2006 and 2007.
