Nyong'o adopted Yoyo from the Best Friends Animal Society in October 2023, when rumours of her relationship with the Dawson's Creek star emerged.
In March, the pair confirmed their romance during a PDA-packed trip to Mexico to celebrate her 41st birthday.
The Dawson's Creek star is yet to publicly comment on their relationship ending. However, his ex-wife, Jodie Turner-Smith, has spoken about his dalliance with Nyong'o before.

"Good for them," she told The Cut.
"We need happiness in order to peacefully co-parent. I'm trying to get us to the Gwyneth [Paltrow] and Chris Martin level.
"I truly hope they're happy and that it benefits us as a family."
The pair share a four-year-old daughter named Juno.
Nyong'o previously dated sports commentator Selema Masekela, with whom she had been in a relationship for roughly one year.
Taking to Instagram Stories, the Black Panther star announced the news of their split in a statement.

"It is necessary for me to share a personal truth and publicly dissociate myself from someone I can no longer trust," she shared.
"I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception.
"But I am reminded that the magnitude of the pain I am feeling is equal to the measure of my capacity for love. And so, I am choosing to face the pain, cultivating the courage to meet my life exactly as it is, and trusting that this too shall pass."
