Oasis rocker Liam Gallagher refuses to get double hip replacement despite living in 'agony'

Oasis rocker Liam Gallagher has admitted he refuses to have a double hip replacement despite being in "agony" over the pain of his chronic arthritis.

The Wonderwall hitmaker said he would "rather be in a wheelchair" than have the surgery after hearing he could potentially die on the table.

"I asked the lady what the downside was: 'You might die in surgery. It's a one in a million chance'. F--- off. I'm not going to crisp it having my hips cracked, thank you," Gallagher, 49, told Mojo magazine.

"I'd rather be in a wheelchair with Debbie pushing me around, like Little Britain."

Gallagher has been battling arthritis pain since being diagnosed with the joint condition in 2019.

He told the magazine he'd just "rather be in pain" than face lying on an operating table to be fitted with artificial hips.

"I think I'd just rather be in pain, which is ridiculous, obviously. I know that. Just get them fixed," he continued.

"But it's the stigma, saying you've had your hips replaced. What's next?"

Gallagher's arthritis diagnosis has also meant he needed to stop running, which was a difficult pill to swallow for the regular jogger.

He also claims he can't sleep at night without the aid of sleeping tablets.

"I can't sleep at night for the pain," he added. "I'm on herbal sleeping tablets and they've saved my life. One of them, seven hours out. No pain, nothing."

The Oasis musician lives with his girlfriend of 10 years, actress Debbie Gwyther.

He formed the iconic band with his brother, Noel, 54, before they split in 2009.
