The event was something of a homecoming for Webster.

The Strawberry Kisses singer was part of the 1997 Australian production of Les Misérables, playing the role of young Cosette.

In a special surprise, Webster and other Aussie stars of past productions – including the likes of Normie Rowe and Philip Quast – were welcomed to the stage after the show for a performance of One Day More with members of the current cast.

On Instagram, Webster described the moment as "the most magical experience".

David Campbell was also part of the group of former Les Misérables cast members who took to the stage.

The Today Extra host played Marius in the 1997 revival of the musical, sharing the mic last night with a fellow former Marius – Simon Burke.

Campbell attended the event with wife Lisa and their twins, Billy and Betty, calling it "a night I will never forget".

"[The twins] adored it and what's not to love with that cast," he wrote on Instagram.
