After revealing last year that she weighed just 54kg, Kim Kardashian says she's gained 8kg in the last 12 months.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star made the revelation in video posted to Instagram Stories, while working out with her trainer, Melissa Alcantara.

"OK, so we're doing a night workout before my dinner, which I never do with this one [Alcantara], but I figured we have to get into it at some point," the 39-year-old said in the clip. "And yeah, I mean, sometimes we fall off and sometimes you really gotta get it together and this is one of my fallen off times where I am, I think, 18 pounds [approx. 8kg] up from what I was about a year ago, a year and a half ago."

But it seems the recent weight gain does not sit well with Kardashian, especially since she has a 40th birthday bash coming up next year.

"To feel good, I just want to get it like, a really good goal weight and so that means working out at all costs," the mum-of-four said in the video. "It's my eating. I work out but it's like, my eating. But Melissa and I have a major goal for by the time I'm 40."

It was in July 2018 that Kardashian revealed she weighed just 54kg after she embarked on a hardcore training program. The reality star attracted criticism from fans while bragging about her 9kg weight loss to her sisters, Khloé Kardashian and Kendall Jenner who joked that they were "really concerned" and that Kim was "anorexic", much to her delight.

"What! Oh my God, thank you!" Kim said in a clip posted to Instagram Stories at the time. "Oh my God, the compliments!"

The reality star quickly apologised for appearing to make light of eating disorders, saying weeks later on Ashley Graham's podcast, Pretty Big Deal, that she regretted her remarks.

"Looking back and having said that, I 100 per cent completely understand where people would be coming from that felt that way," she said. "My intention is never to offend anyone and I really apologise if I offended anyone.

"You know, I was, like, with my sisters and we were laughing and joking and it's loud," she explained. "I guess, sometimes you can get, like, carried away and just, it was insensitive, you know, and it definitely wasn't my intention though."
