Khloe Kardashian regrets taking part in Lamar Odom documentary: 'I feel so dumb'

Khloe Kardashian says she regrets taking part in her ex-husband Lamar Odom's documentary exploring his near death following a drug overdose after he insinuated she was a liar.

Kardashian and Odom, a former NBA basketball player, were married in 2009 and separated in 2013. Their relationship featured heavily on the reality show Keeping up with the Kardashians and their own spin-off.

They were in the midst of a divorce when he had a near fatal drug overdose in Las Vegas in 2015. She rushed to his side and spent months in Las Vegas, helping nurse him back to health, but said she now regretted appearing in his Netflix documentary.

Kardashian, who went on to have two children with another former NBA player, Tristan Thompson, had kept her distance from Odom in recent years before agreeing to meet with him during the latest incarnation of her family's reality show, The Kardashians.

She agreed to take part in Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom, which was released on Netflix last month and focuses on his career, overdose and months'-long recovery.

However, in the weeks since the documentary's release, Odom has disagreed with his former wife's recollection of some events, such as his father's desire not to continue life support.

Now, Kardashian has hit back in the latest episode of her podcast, Khloe in Wonder Land.

Speaking to her best friend, Malika Haqq, she said, "I think what's pissing me off is, we did this, all good. I was done with this. I'm like, 'I'm never going to do another Lamar thing again, 'cause I'm all good'.

"But now, Lamar is doing press, annoyed with me, claiming or insinuating that I'm a liar, all these things, discrediting me, saying that I wasn't the one who helped him.

"I feel so dumb... [and] pissed that I'm even involved."

Kardashian also revealed she became involved in the project "as a favour" after being told it could not proceed without her.

"I was asked by Lamar or Lamar's team... if I can do the documentary," she said.

"I was like, I don't know if I want to do that and also I wanted to make sure it was handled in the best way.

"I want to make sure this is a positive piece. I really don't want to go down this road if it's negative."

She said she only agreed to do it after Netflix said her input was needed to finish the project.

"I didn't want to do that to Lamar. So I was like, 'OK, he deserves this'," she said.

"I'm not getting paid one penny to do this, I have no dog in this fight. It doesn't matter to me if this documentary is made or not made and it's also something I want to talk about anymore."

She claimed she asked Odom for direction about what he did and didn't want her to say but got no response so went ahead with filming, and was answering questions asked by a producer "that I then respond to".

"I didn't see the documentary in whole until it came out," she said.

Since then, Odom appeared on the Today show and refuted her recollection of events.

Kardashian said in the documentary that when she arrived at the hospital, Lamar's father, Joe Odom, was already there and said, "Don't put him on life support, turn those machines off".

However, Odom refuted this during an April 6 Today show appearance, saying, "If you know Joe Odom, I don't think that's something that would ever come out of his mouth. He was my biggest fan".

Odom was found unconscious outside a Nevada brothel in October 2015. He suffered 12 strokes and six heart attacks and was in a coma for days.

Kardashian rushed to his side, making medical decisions on his behalf, remaining at his bedside for four months and renting a house for him to live in close to her own with a full staff to aid his recovery on his release from hospital.

In the documentary, Odom attributed his survival to God and divine intervention and not the care Kardashian provided.
