Jim Carrey gives awkward, possibly profound interview at New York Fashion Week

Jim Carrey is not a fan of New York Fashion Week.

The 55-year-old actor walked the carpet at a Harper's Bazaar party at The Plaza and gave a bizarre, positively existential interview to E! News' Catt Sadler.

After circling Catt and staring at her creepily, Jim finally stayed in one place long enough for her to interview him – but his answers were equally perplexing.

"There's no meaning to any of this," he said. "So I wanted to find the most meaningless thing that I could come to and join and here I am."

At this point, Catt pointed out the event was actually held to celebrate icons.

"I don't believe in icons," he fired back.

"I don't believe in personalities. I believe that peace lies beyond personalities, beyond invention and disguise, beyond the red 'S' you wear on your chest, that makes bullets bounce off."

The actor opted to wear a loudly patterned blue and black suit to the event, but insisted he didn't put in any effort.

"I didn't get dressed up," he said. "There is no me. There's just things happening… We don't matter."

Jim has faced a rough couple of years after his on-and-off girlfriend Cathriona White died by suicide in 2015.

After her death, Cathriona's mum and estranged husband both sued Jim, claiming he provided her with prescription drugs that he obtained under a false name. The actor has strongly denied the allegations.
