Janet Jackson remembers late brother Michael Jackson: 'His little sister, always by his side'

Janet Jackson is honouring her late sibling Michael Jackson in her latest tour, performing their song Scream with the help of video footage.

And now Janet has spoken about paying homage to the late pop superstar, who died at the age of 50 back in June 2009.

She said when she performs the song, she remembers the time they wrote it together at his apartment in New York.

"And just me being his little sister, always by his side, and being that support system. That's always been my role," she told the BBC.

She said about the performance that it's still tough "listening to him every night, seeing him, remembering us".

"So [I relive] that whole journey, listening to him sing it [and remembering] what he was going through at that time," she said.

The All For You singer is currently on her Janet Jackson: Together Again tour, which wraps up in October this year.

It was recently the 15th anniversary of Michael's death, after he died in June 2009 following a cardiac arrest.

His son Prince shared a tribute to his later father to mark the occasion, writing: "Miss you pops."

"The world felt better with you in it."

"Hard to believe it's been 15 years without you ❤️‍🩹 We miss you everyday 🕊️," Michael's brother Jackie, 73, said in a tribute post.

Since his death, his eldest son Prince, 27, has taken it upon himself to ensure he and his siblings remain close. He was also father to Bigi, 22, and Paris, 26.

"When we were growing up, my father would say, 'We could have nothing, but you look around in this room, your brother, your sister, and me, that's all you'll ever have,'" Prince told Good Morning Britain.

"That's kind of all I knew."
