'I love my freedom': Vanessa Williams reveals split from businessman husband after years of keeping it secret
Actress and singer Vanessa Williams has more than one thing in common with Meryl Streep.
Not only is the 61-year-old former Miss America playing Streep's iconic Devil Wears Prada character Miranda Priestly in the upcoming playing Streep's iconic Devil Wears Prada character Miranda Priestly, but she's also quietly been separated from her husband for years.
"I'm doing what I love, and I'm in love with life. There is not one person that I'm in love with, but I'm in love with everybody," Williams, who up until this morning was widely believed to be married to businessman Jim Skrip, told People when asked if she's in love currently.

"I love my freedom," Williams continued. "I love being alive, having options in my life, and being surrounded by beautiful things, great people, and wonderful opportunities."
The publication has confirmed Williams and Skrip – who married on July 4, 2015, in New York – amicably ended their marriage in 2021.
Previously, Williams was married to music executive Ramon Hervey II from 1987 to 1997, and former NBA star Rick Fox from 1999 to 2005.
She shares 37-year-old daughter Melanie, 35-year-old daughter Jillian, and 31-year-old son Devin with Hervey, and 24-year-old daughter Sasha with Fox.
Williams' secret divorce is only the latest among Hollywood titans who have kept their marriage breakdowns under wraps.
Notable recent splits include that of Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen, who separated after more than 20 years together in 2023 but Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen.

Streep, meanwhile, confirmed via a representative in October that she and husband Don Gummer, to whom she married in 1978, had confirmed via a representative.
The month before, the public marked Streep and Gummer's 45th wedding anniversary. In private, however, the couple never reached the milestone.
A representative for Streep said at the time: "Don Gummer and Meryl Streep have been separated for more than six years, and while they will always care for each other, they have chosen lives apart."
