Reality TV star Paige DeSorbo responds to backlash against her sheer wedding guest gown

Paige DeSorbo has responded to the backlash she's received online after she shared photos on social media wearing a sheer black gown to a friend's wedding.

The Summer House star spoke about the sexy ensemble, worn earlier this month to a wedding in the South of France, during the latest episode of The LadyGang podcast.

"I could defend it all day long," DeSorbo told co-hosts Keltie Knight, Becca Tobin and Jac Vanek in the chat released on Tuesday.

"First and foremost, I was in Saint-Tropez. I wasn't at St Patrick's Cathedral in New York City. So it was a very different type of wedding."

The 31-year-old wore a black lace gown by Salih Balta, which featured a corset bodice and sheer skirt with an almost hip-high side split.

DeSorbo also noted that she wasn't going for a shocking look but wanted to be on trend for the stylish couple's big day.

"And the couple that got married — my girlfriend Alexa and her now-husband Wilton — [are] easily one of the most stylish couples I have ever been around," she explained.

"They just look good. They look like a model couple."

DeSorbo explained the bride is a stylist and had given her permission to wear that gown, saying "the bride loved it", adding that she wasn't the only one in something a little less traditional.

"I was maybe one of 15 girls that was in sheer dresses — also because that's like trendy," she said.

The Summer House star, who also hosts her own podcast Giggly Squad, said she also ran the idea past other friends.

"I sent it [a picture of the dress] to all of my girlfriends who were also going to the wedding and we were sending all of our dresses in a group chat and not a single person batted an eye," she said.

"One of the other girls was in a completely sheer [dress] that had like green sparkles on it so I was like, 'Oh we are so good'."

The controversy began after the author and TV personality shared a series of photos from the French nuptials on Instagram earlier this month.

"The most beautiful wedding I've ever been to," she captioned the carousel.

Fans didn't quite respond in the way the reality TV star might have hoped.

"I'd consider it an insult if someone wore what Paige did. Terrible," one person wrote in the comments.

Another said: "Usually a fan of all your looks but this just wasn't wedding appropriate".

"Absolutely wrong albeit beautiful. Not appropriate at all," another told DeSorbo.
