Hayden Panettiere’s on-and-off-again boyfriend Brian Hickerson was there when she died

Hayden Panettiere’s on-and-off-again boyfriend Brian Hickerson and his brother, Zach Hickerson, were at the scene of her death on Sunday afternoon (Monday AEST). 

New details have been released about the Heroes star’s sudden death, with authorities revealing Zach was “very emotional” as paramedics worked on her. 

A heavily redacted report from the Greenville Police Department, obtained by Page Six, said Zach referred to Panettiere as his “brother’s girlfriend” at the scene. 

According to responding officer Matthew Bryan, Brian “did not become emotional” until Panettiere was officially declared dead. 

Brian also handed over a “bag of medication” the actress had in her possession at the time of her death. 

The names of the medications have been redacted in the report, although nine were listed according to the outlet.

The responding officer was wearing a body camera throughout the emergency response, but the footage has not been publicly released. 

Brian is yet to comment publicly or respond to her death. 

Emergency services were called to the apartment complex Judson Mill Lofts in South Carolina on Sunday.

Audio of the 911 emergency call, published by multiple US outlets including TMZ, revealed paramedics were called to the property over reports of an “overdose”.

A dispatcher in the audio can be heard referring to an “unidentified female” in “cardiac arrest” and within minutes “CPR [was] in progress”.

TMZ reports that Narcan, a nasal spray which is used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose, was found in the apartment where she died.

It is unclear if the Narcan was used to try and revive Panettiere.

It is understood it was a friend who discovered Panettiere at the property, and she was the person who called 911. Paramedics tried to revive Panettiere, but she was pronounced dead at 2.32pm. 

Police said there were no signs of foul play and the circumstances surrounding her death did not appear suspicious. 

An autopsy on Panettiere’s body has been completed, however an official cause of death has not been released. 

Brian, who was first linked to Panettiere in 2018, flew from Los Angeles to South Carolina to be with her on Saturday. 

The Nashville star had reportedly kept her friends in the dark about reconnecting with Brian before her death. 

Panettiere and Brian had a tumultuous, on-and-off relationship that included multiple alleged incidents of domestic violence.

The pair sparked reconciliation rumours just months ago, when they were spotted together at the Los Angeles International Airport in March.
