Golden Globes 2018: Kelly Clarkson stops red carpet interview to fangirl over Meryl Streep

Kelly Clarkson is having the best time at the 2018 Golden Globes!

The 35-year-old 'Love So Soft' singer reminded the world that she's just like us when she completely lost her cool during a live interview on the awards show red carpet.

The inaugural American Idol winner was wrapping up her chat with Ryan Seacrest when she spotted veteran actress Meryl Streep making her way down the carpet.

"Oh my God!" the mother-of-two squealed as she turned to get a closer look at the Oscar winner, causing Seacrest -- who was helping her down the stairs -- to think Clarkson had tripped.

"That’s Meryl!" Clarkson screamed.

Seacrest made a brief introduction before Clarkson (while beelining for Streep) asked, "Can I meet you?! I’ve adored you since I was like 8."

Streep indulged Clarkson with a kiss on the cheek, and then she introduced her date for the night, director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance and co-director of the Caring Across Generations Campaign, Ai-jen Poo.

Streep's latest film, The Post, in which she stars alongside Tom Hanks, is a hot contender for Best Motion Picture - Drama. And the Hollywood actress has been using her star power to spread the word about the Time's Up initiative -- a movement that promotes equality in the workplace, while fighting against sexual harassment.

Meanwhile, it's the first Golden Globes for Clarkson, who is presenting an award, and she shared an update on social media while she was getting ready for the glamorous event.

"Killin’ this Golden Globes pre-game like tiger!" she wrote alongside a pic of her wearing a face mask.
