Game of Thrones dog Odin loses cancer battle

Amidst the doom and gloom of the current coronavirus pandemic news cycle, now the dog from Game of Thrones has passed away.

Odin, who starred as Bran's Direwolf pooch in the long running series, reportedly died from cancer. He was 10-years-old.

Odin's owner, William Mulhall who runs Direwolf Tours in Northern Ireland, announced the sad news on Friday.

"Our family are at immense heartbreak to announce that Odin passed away early this morning," he began.

"We can all take great comfort in knowing that he is forever immortalised in the great TV Show Game of Thrones as Summer Bran Stark's Direwolf Pup in Season 1 episode 1. To everyone that was lucky enough to meet him and put a smile on your face please remember that moment. It's an incredible piece of luck to have a pet you love so well become world-famous and touch so many people's hearts. He was always fond of the beach and his favourite treats which he had almost everyday before his passing... The vets did everything they could to keep him going but he passed away in his sleep... It's difficult to put into words how this has impacted us as a family for Odin led a life like no other dog."

Mulhall set up a GoFundMe page earlier this month and revealed that his beloved dog had been diagnosed with cancer in November. Asking fans for donations to pay for his treatment, the dog owner wrote, "Any donations large or small would mean everything to us and to Odin and would give us a better chance to help beat this illness."

Odin is survived by his furry brother Thor who played Robb Stark's direwolf Grey Wind when he was a puppy.
