UK '90s boy band Five announces full group reunion for the first time in 25 years

British boy band Five (or 5ive, as they were once styled) have confirmed they are reuniting, with all five original band members involved for the first time in 25 years.

The announcement overnight coincided with the 25th anniversary of their Best Pop Act win at the 2000 BRIT Awards, the UK's answer to the Grammys.

After weeks of teasing a major announcement across billboards at bus stops and train stations, a tour was confirmed by the group in a statement, delighting fans.

"Thank f--- you're ALL back together, It's put a right smile on my face and an even bigger one in my heart," Robbie Williams commented on the group's announcement.

Boyzone's Keith Duffy shared a similar sentiment, saying, "Yes Boys Congratulations".

Abz Love, Ritchie Neville, Sean Conlon, Scott Robinson and J Brown were put together after a rigorous audition process back in 1997, by the brains behind the Spice Girls.

They went on to sell more than 20 million records worldwide with hits including as Got the Feelin', Everybody Get Up and Slam Dunk (Da Funk).

Simon Cowell, who was the head of the record label that signed them at the time, says the group were close to breaking the US market when they disbanded in 2001.

They'd gone on to have a reunion in 2006 without Conlon and again in 2012, without Brown. Then in 2014, Abz left the group a trio.

The lads, now in their 40s, will embark on a 12-date tour across the UK, kicking off in Brighton on October 31 through to November 16 in Glasgow.

At this stage it looks like there aren't any plans to bring the show to Australia but it seems like it might not entirely be off the table.

"International fans, make sure to sign up there so we know where in the world you are too," the group wrote on social media.

Their self-titled debut album went three times platinum in Australia, peaking at No.8 on the ARIA charts in 1998.

As a trio, they did a nine-show sold out tour with Sister2Sister in Australia in March last year.
