The Emmys were broadcast days after one of four people charged in connection to the late John William Wactor III's shooting death allegedly pleaded guilty.

Wactor, who starred as Brando Corbin on the soap opera General Hospital until his exit in 2022, died aged 37 after being reportedly shot and killed during an alleged attempted robbery.

Despite starring in an Emmy-award-winning show, he was not featured in the tribute.

Another late General Hospital star, Tyler Christopher, was omitted from the tributes after dying at the age of 50 following a "cardiac event".

Christopher was nominated for five Daytime Emmys for his roles as Nikolas Cassadine on General Hospital and Stefan DiMera on Days of Our Lives, leaving an undeniable mark on the television industry.

Fans were shocked when Shelley Duvall, who had been nominated for an Emmy in the past, wasn't given a tribute.

The late actress may have been better known as a film star for her role in The Shining, but she also had a lasting impact on the television industry.

Duvall, who died in July at the age of 75, was the creator and lead of the children's shows Shelley Duvall's Bedtime Stories and Tall Tales & Legends, both of which were Emmy-nominated.

A heartbroken fan took to X to share: "It's incredibly disrespectful and odd Shelley Duvall was not in the In Memoriam at the Emmys. Not only was she a pioneer in children's programming but she also single handedly saved Nick Jr from being taken off the air."

One fan voiced their disapproval of her snub, writing on X: "I fell asleep during the Emmys last night, but what's this I hear about Chita Rivera and Shelley Duvall not being in the In Memoriam. I will be writing a sharply-worded letter."

Political commentator Lou Dobbs was also absent from the section despite being a beloved television star.

The former CNN and Fox Business anchor was 78 when he died this year with an Emmy for Lifetime Achievement under his belt.

Even though the star was previously acknowledged for his work, he was not included in the tributes.
