Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson reveals why he's 'in the process of slimming down'

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson might be known for his super buff build, but the WWE star is on a mission to slim down.

In recent weeks, he's made headlines for the change in his appearance, and now he's explained the reason for it.

The 53-year-old actor and sports buff reportedly said at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival's 'In Conversation With…' series, according to People, that he's "slimming down" for his new role in the film Lizard Music.

"This is me slimmed down," he said, according to the outlet.

"In the process of slimming down. I still have a long ways to go."

In Lizard Music, the Fast and Furious star will reportedly play an elderly man in his 70s who has a chicken, known as the 'Chicken Man,' according to People.

The upcoming film is directed by Benny Safdie, who is also the director of The Rock's latest film co-starring Emily Blunt, called The Smashing Machine.

In The Smashing Machine, he portrays UFC and fighting champion Mark Kerr, and reportedly honed his physique and put on muscle mass for the role.

"This transformation was something I was really hungry to do," he told The Hollywood Reporter about his role in The Smashing Machine.

"I had been very fortunate to have the career that I've had over the years and to make the films that I've made, but there was just a voice inside of me, a little voice that said, 'Well, what if I could do more – I want to do more and what does that look like?'" he added.

The Rock is one of Hollywood's most prolific stars and is known for films including Black Adam, The Scorpion King, San Andreas and Central Intelligence, after transforming his career and moving from the wrestling ring into acting.

He often shares his workouts online with fans and one past meal he tucked into was a plate of sirloin steak, egg whites, and peanut butter and jelly English muffins and oatmeal with a tropical punch drink, before training.
