Dolly Parton’s sister Stella slams ‘endless garbage’ about country icon since her death

Dolly Parton’s sister Stella has slammed the “endless garbage” and misinformation being spread since the country music star’s death at age 80. 

The 77-year-old took to Instagram over the weekend to address her family’s grief and hit back at the challenges they are now facing in the wake of her sister’s death. 

“As most of you who follow my accounts know, I’m an early riser, so here goes during my coffee hour,” the post started. 

“First, let me say, thank you to the ones of you who have shown ‘genuine’ support and love during this time of our family bereavement. 

“We will be ok in time but each of us will grieve in our own personal way. Every human being experiences pain and loss in life and my family is no different. 

“Sadly, because of the way our lives have been lived in front of the public, we have no choice but to be subjected to incredible pressure and insensitivity from strangers.

“There is a tremendous amount of AI and endless garbage being posted everyday and it’s been challenging to absorb and or ignore. 

“As time passes, those who are in the business of exploiting the loss of tragedies of others on a daily basis will move on to the next stampede of endless misinformation.”

Stella said her sister would be “surprised and delighted” by the outpouring of love her family – and the country icon – had been shown during this time. 

“She loves her fans and the public in general. This is the reason she chose not to express her opinions on a lot of things like politics, religion and individuals in the public eye. 

“She knew as well as anyone the negative vortex that could turn into which is nothing but a huge waste of positive energy. 

Stella continued that her sister was a positive influence on the world, who used her music and passion as a tool to move people in a positive way. 

“Finally, I ask that you show more compassion and wisdom as we move forward in life. Use my sister’s life as an example for tolerance and respect towards others. 

“It’s not about the most clever comments, fake AI garbage or snarky tweets.

“As a footnote here; I am not nor have I ever tried to be like my sister even tho [sic] we inherited similar traits as siblings. That being said, I’ve always embraced my own personality and will continue to be myself and express my opinions as I deem appropriate regardless of what anyone thinks of me. It’s my right as a human being!”

Dolly died on August 25, with the devastating news announced by her family in a post on social media.

Shortly after her death it was revealed that she had been privately battling cancer in the lead up to her passing.

The star was laid to rest in a private service instead of a large public funeral, which many fans called for in Nashville’s Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum just three days after she died.

Dolly’s cousin Richie Owens said the word “funeral” didn’t really describe the quiet, intimate service she asked for.

“It was a burial. [She wanted] to be buried beside her husband, and she wanted it very small,” he told Today US.

“It was very quiet, very quickly done and not for any bad reasons whatsoever. It’s just what she wanted. She wanted to keep it very, very private.”
