Dolly Parton’s manager reveals country icon’s final days: ‘Worked until the day she died’

Dolly Parton’s manager has revealed the country star was workin’ 9 to 5 until the day she died.

Parton was a busy woman, even in the months leading up to her death, with her manager Danny Nozell sharing insight into her final days.

“Dolly worked up until the day she died,” Nozell shared in a press release. “She loved seeing her dreams come to life, and loved knowing her work brought people joy.” 

Parton was working on her newest hotel in Downtown Nashville, SongTeller Hotel, which will open its doors on September 14. She was also putting together a museum of her life, called the Life of Many Colours Museum, which is located inside the hotel.

The 9 to 5 singer was also working on her very own Broadway show called DOLLY: A True Original Musical, which will open on December 7.

“Ever the planner, Dolly worked with the team that she handpicked for the past several years to build a project road map that will guide us for decades to come,” Nozell continued.

“As the leader of the team responsible for overseeing her legacy, we will ensure the many dreams she had yet to fulfil are brought to life.”

“Many projects were in various stages of development, and we want to be transparent with her fans about this fact.”

Parton died on August 25, aged 80, after a brief battle with cancer.

The country icon’s loved ones raced to be by her side at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Centre in her final moments, after her health took an unexpected turn before her death at age 80. The type of cancer she had has not been disclosed.

In a statement, her family said: “Our beloved Dolly Parton spent her life and career bringing joy, laughter, hope and integrity into everything she touched.

“Her unmatched generosity reached the lives of countless people whom she would never meet, yet she was always there to offer a helping hand.

“Whether it be the hundreds of millions of books donated through her invaluable Imagination Library or funding research that helped create a lifesaving vaccine used around the world, Dolly’s unconditional love for all people was the guiding force for her lasting impact.

“After bravely facing a brief battle with cancer, Dolly departed her Earthly life today at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Centre surrounded by loved ones.”

The country singer’s death was announced hours earlier in a social media video by her nephew, with revealing that her passing came after a sudden decline in her health.
